Favorite Woodys

Universal is getting ready to release another Woody Woodpecker DVD collection, but not "Woody Woodpecker & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Vol 3" (yet?).It will be a single disc release called Woody Woodpecker Favorites and will be a collection of 20 or so classic cartoons plus 2 complete episodes of the classic television show.

If the price of the larger collector DVD collections doesn't sit well with you, this March 2009 release will be your chance to own some great classic cartoons from the Walter Lantz studios.

Woody Woodpecker made his debut in the 1940 Andy Panda cartoon "Knock Knock". He was a crazy character and his original design suited his personality. Woody would be the headliner of his next cartoon in 1941 which is aptly named "Woody Woodpecker".
