John K, the cartoonist/director behind Spumco's line of characters, has created yet another blog! John has always been influenced by the classic characters of Hanna-Barbera and has been doodling them his whole life. He's decided to share those scribbles and doodles with his fans on John's Funky HB! http://funkyhb.blogspot.com/
Recently, John K has blogged about his memories working on the 1985 revamp of Hanna-Barbera's The Jetsons. http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/ John K comments: "All I wanted to do on the Jetsons was design character models, but Bill and Joe sent me to Taipei to train a crew of Chinese (Taiwanese) assistant animators to do layouts. Doing layouts on a show that has appealing designs is where the fun is anyway." Check out a scene from a finished episode that was based on layouts by John K. You can tell that the animation is a product of great cartoony poses in his style.
According to a recent post on his blog, the creator of Ren & Stimpy, John K would like the opportunity to create some new Looney Tunes material for Warner Bros. http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2008/08/wb-pitch.html But don't fear Looney Tunes fans, not actual cartoons but wrap-around animation for new television packages featuring everyone's favorite wabbit, duck, hunter, pig, roadrunner, coyote etc...etc... It's an interesting idea but will Warners think so?
