A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Scarlett Johansson To Go Solo As The BLACK WIDOW

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

It was already a forgone conclusion that busty actress Scarlett Johansson would be poured into the vinyl once again to reprise her role as the Black Widow in the upcoming "Avengers" movie. What was not expected were Marvel Studios' plans to give the actress her own superhero franchise.

Marvel has just announced that after the release of "The Avengers" in 2012, Johansson and her sexy superspy character will be given their own series of films.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, announced at a press event this week, "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but "The Avengers" comes first."

As most of you know, Johansson made quite a splash playing the Black Widow this past summer in "Iron Man 2" and will join Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson and Mark Ruffalo in "The Avengers"

The curvy actress is reportedly ecstatic about playing the character again, and she feels more than ready to the role to the next level in a solo outing, remarking, "(I) would be happy to don the cat suit again and, you know, carry the torch"

Rachel Grubb Appears In New Web Comic Series “A Life Behind The Mask”

Source: Rachel Grubb (Press Release)

“A Life Behind The Mask” is a comedic look at heroes and villains as they go about their lives in and out of their masks and capes, as they go about the same trials and tribulations of everyday occurrences as we all do except they approach things a little differently than most of us.

The web series will rotate around a different super hero and villain every month as they deal with their everyday lives in and out of their alter egos and try to manage a variety of everyday events in their own unique way and approach.

The series will feature a variety of women throughout the entertainment world that span the spectrum of models, actresses, and scream queens; Comic Book Divas will feature the likeness of the women to bring the characters personalities to life.
Well known B movie poster artist Dennis Willman is drawing and coloring the web series, Dennis Willman’s art style brings a believable look to the characters this plus the added aspect of the women lending their likenesses adds to the realism of the heroes and villains in “A Life Behind The Mask”.

Dennis Willman has worked on a host of movie projects and worked with many of today’s top scream queens including April Burril, Bianca Barnett, Elske McCain, Scarlet Salem, and many more.

Rachel Grubb is a actress, producer, writer, and director; she has been in the movie and horror industry for many years; she is credited with several projects ranging from in front and in back of the camera.

Rachel Grubb can be seen in such movies as; “Horror House”, “Tales Of The Dead”, “Horror Vault”, “Camp Kill”, she is also in the upcoming “Bad Girls Burn In Hell” and “Scream Queen Campfire”; .in addition Rachel Grubb is also owner of Silent But Deadly productions.

Rachel Grubb portrays “Jolly” She is the clown that enjoys the fact that she can scare you and your kids at parties and the circus, Jolly also has a twisted sense of humor and while she is criminal she has a odd sense of justice.

The character of Jolly is, of course, a play on Harley Quinn and the Joker. Instead of symmetrical patterns I went with offset loops and odd shapes to create the jester motif.

The horns are indeed a nod to Harley Quinn, but their design is a nod to Tim Curry’s portrayal of The Lord of Darkness.

The photo reference of Rachel was a very intense, semi-evil shot that reminded me of how Tim Curry can express death on wheels with a smile.

Rachel can emote like he does, so her face make-up was made to resemble the make-up Curry wore as Pennywise in “IT.” Her fishnet stockings are from a template that I created a few years back that can be distorted and warped to match the shape of the legs (I think I created it for a Ginger-Stein illustration…).

The trick is “mucking up” the template to match the pencil work and the painting of the composition. The balloons are another nod to Pennywise, and I hope the character comes off as fun and unique, yet scary in her own right.

Comic Book/Web Comic, and Rachel Grubb fans will enjoy the latest installment of Rachel Grubb portrayal of “Jolly”; fans are also able to buy Rachel Grubb’s prints that feature the actress as her character that features art work by Dennis Willman.

X-Men - Psylocke - Bishoujo Statue

X-Men Psylocke Bishoujo Statue:

The sultry Psylocke!
Betsy Braddock is as stunning as ever!
Statue shows the deadly mutant warrior in bishoujo style.
Based on character art by famed illustrator Shunya Yamashita!
Exclusive X-Men logo base.

Psylocke is a warrior woman to the core, striking a deadly pose with twin Japanese swords at the ready. The alluring curves of her body are accentuated by her skimpy, skin-tight costume that leaves little to the imagination, and the high-heeled boots that draw attention to her shapely legs. As Psylocke twists to face her foes, her long hair fans out behind her, surrounding her beautiful bishoujo-styled facial sculpt. The sexy mutant's bright-blue costume and purple hair nicely offset her pale skin. Standing about 7 4/5-inches tall in 1:8 scale, Psylocke was sculpted by Yu Ishii. Packaged in an attractive window box with an exclusive X-Men logo base, the deadly mutant is constructed of high-quality plastic. Shouldn't she already be in your collection?

Once a British woman with minor mutant powers, Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock's mind was transferred into the body of a ninja, giving her additional martial arts prowess. A long-time member of the X-Men, Psylocke now stars in her very own comic book series. Here, the mutant heroine is presented for the first time in the Japanese bishoujo (pretty girl) style based on original character art by illustrator Shunya Yamashita.

Former BUFFY And TORCHWOOD Stars Return To TV In SyFy's THREE INCHES

Source: NBC Universal (Press Release)

Syfy’s "Three Inches' has added an all-star cast to the 90-minute pilot, starring Noah Reid (Strange Days at Blake Holsey High). James Marsters (Smallville, Caprica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, SCTV Network), Stephanie Jacobsen (Melrose Place, Battlestar Galactica: Razor), Antony Del Rio (The Super Hero Squad Show), Naoko Mori (Torchwood), Kyle Schmid (Blood Ties) and Brandon Jay McLaren (TRON: Legacy, Harper’s Island) will join the action-adventure/fantasy as series regulars. Alona Tal (Veronica Mars), Craig Eldridge (Covert Affairs) and Julian Richings (Supernatural) will guest star in the pilot episode.

Three Inches, from Fox Television Studios and Landscape Entertainment, will begin production in Toronto, Canada on Monday, August 30.

In Three Inches, professional daydreamer and underachiever, Walter Spackman (Reid) is struck by lightning, and develops a unique "super" power -- the ability to move any object using just his mind... but only a distance of three inches. He's soon recruited by a covert team of superheroes each gifted with their own extraordinarily ordinary abilities. Together, the unlikely band of heroes proves that "super" is simply a state of mind.

Jace Alexander (Rescue Me, Prison Break) is directing the pilot, written by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), who also serves as executive producer. Fox Television Studios is producing with Executive Producer Robert Cooper, through his company Landscape Entertainment. J.J. Jamieson heads up television for Landscape Entertainment.

James Marsters will star as Troy Hamilton, a former government agent who takes Walter in to his own team of “super” heroes who fight evil wherever they find it. He is a father figure to Walter.

Andrea Martin will play Belinda Spackman, Walter’s mother, a brutally honest, comically cynical force of nature that loves her son more than words can say and will do anything to protect him.

Stephanie Jacobsen plays Watts, a beautiful “super” hero who has the ability to shape the emotions of anyone she meets at close range.

Antony Del Rio will portray The Human Smell, an adventurous, often irritating teenager who is able to emit a pungent gas through his pores that disables anyone nearby
Naoko Mori plays Annika, a woman who can duplicate and broadcast any sound she hears.

Kyle Schmid will play Brandon, the “super” hero team leader with all the cockiness and strength of a true action hero, minus the superpowers. He is the opposite of Walter and sees most of the team as freaks.

Brandon Jay McLaren plays Macklin Sportello, Walter’s best friend, a big talker with not a lot to back it up. His relationship is tested when Walter begins to change, but he’s the friend that will always be there for him.

Alona Tal will guest star in the pilot as Lily Theroux, the kind, pretty girl next door and Walter’s long time crush who loves him but “not in that way.”

Craig Eldridge will guest as Todd, part of Troy’s team of “super” heroes who can see two minutes into the future at the cost of a massive disabling headache.

Julian Richings will also appear as a guest star playing Ethan, a man with the ability to communicate with and control the insect kingdom.

A Look At Upcoming Episodes Of Comic Book Divas A LIFE BEHIND THE MASK

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Dennis Willman / Rachel Grubb

A couple of weeks back Comic Book Divas' highly anticipated online comic, "A Life Behind The Mask" made it's debut in the form of the one page feature, "Amazonia In: 'Power And Responsibility'".

Now illustrator Dennis Willman has given us a sneak peak at future installments of "Mask" in the form of title cards for upcoming issues.

First comes, "A Day At The Movies", starring Jolly, a character that was modeled after MIN friend, and part-time contributor, Rachel Grubb. That feature will soon be followed by "The Check-Out Line Law" (Deneen Melody as The Blackbird), "She's A Man Eater" (Not the Hall and Oates song)(Raelynn Blahr as Luna), "Requiem For The Besuited Villain" (Michelle Sheilds as Mrs. Marvelous)and "That Old Black Magic" (Kaily Alissano).

No word yet when these new issues will hit the web, but to hold you over I have included a couple of photos of Rachel Grubb, plus her bio, to keep you occupied.

Rachel Grubb

Another MIN Favorite.....and sometimes.....writer, Rachel Grubb is a multi talented dynamo who works her tail off both in front of, and behind the camera.

As of late, Rachel's star is rising, big time.

Again, if you have never had the privilege of seeing any of Rachel's work, here is her bio (From Fixter):

Rachel Grubb graduated college with a degree in English and wrote her first feature length screenplay, in 1999. When the script won Best Breakthrough Screenplay at the 2000 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, she wanted to star in it herself, simply because she didn’t know anyone else to ask. Not wanting to make a fool of herself, she started taking acting classes, and, to her surprise, became heavily involved in the Minnesota film community—as an actor. She traveled to Hollywood for the IMTA Convention in 2003 and took home a trophy for the Sitcom competition, and a medal for Cold Read.

Since then, she has acted in numerous local feature films, including Doomed To Consume, The Monster of Phantom Lake, Harrowville, Group Home, The Romantics, Tales Of The Dead, Horror House, Health Freaks, and Unholy Reunion. More recently, she played a creepy ghost in Dav Kaufman’s 13 Hours in A Warehouse, and Hagra, lead huntress of the evil Liak tribe in Cave Women on Mars. She plays Angeline in One Way Ticket, a film about an arranged marriage couple from West Africa. She and her friend Brooke Lemke have formed Silent-But-Deadly Productions. They have just finished Why Am I In A Box? which Rachel wrote, directed, and starred in.

Here is a list of everything Rachel is doing in 2010, and let me tell you, it's a lot (From IMDB):

Scream Queen Campfire (2010) (filming) .... Natalie Williams (segment "Screwdriver")
Bad Girls Burn in Hell (2010) (filming) .... Susan Shepard
The Convincer (2011) (post-production) (uncredited) .... Bus Station Patron
Strip Club Slasher (2010) (post-production) .... Desiree Diamonds
The Telephone Game (2010) (post-production) .... Olivia Donnell

And here are those title cards I mentioned earlier, featuring some out-of-this-world art by Dennis Willman:

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Comic Book Divas have just published the first installment of their highly anticipated web series, "A Life Behind The Mask".

The first one page episode entitled, "Amazonia In: 'Power And Responsibility'", as you may have guessed, focuses on the character, "Amozonia", which was modeled after actress/producer Tara Cardinal.

Here is the synopsis:

Amazonia a warrior princess that has no equal, she can lift a car over her head in one hand as she pummels criminals with the other hand; heroes respect her, and crime fears her.

This day, she will foil a bank robbery and save many people; but will she be able to save the day again?..Some days you wonder who the real villains are
!

As was seen in the special character images Comic Book Divas released last may, "A Life Behind The Mask" features some really excellent artwork by Dennis Willman, conceived from stories written by Jeff Hughes.

Here is an overview of "A Life Behind The Mask":

“A Life Behind The Mask” is a comedic look at heroes and villains as they go about their lives in and out of their masks and capes, as they go about the same trials and tribulations of every day occurrences as we all do except they approach things a little differently then most of us.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants WONDER WOMAN

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

The live-action movie based on the "Wonder Woman" television series from the 1970s that starred Lynda Carter has been in some form of development for what seems like a zillion years now, and just about every actress in Hollywood has been swooning over the title role.

Well, not every actress in Hollywood, but like the ever growing list of young ladies who want to play "Catwoman" in the next "Batman" movie, the list of potential Amazon princesses is as long as Route 66.

The latest Hollywood hottie that wants the role, Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is doing all she can to get the execs at Warner Bros to put her name on the top of that much coveted list.

As a youth the now former Ghost Whisperer actress was a bit obsessed with the super hero.

"I'm fighting so hard." Explains Hewitt. "I think Warner Bros. is getting ready to make Wonder Woman and I really want to play Wonder Woman. I am obsessed with Wonder Woman."

A hard core Wonder Woman fan or not, the curvy Hewitt is up against some pretty tough (rumored) competition. Others who have expressed interest in the part are Anna Friel, Megan Fox, Eliza Dushku and singer Beyonce Knowles.

Back when the film was first announced in 2007 Jessica Biel and Katie Holmes were considered the favorites for the part. Holmes even went as far as to have a private audition for the coveted role, but nothing ever came from it.

Who is the former Wonder Woman's first choice to replace her? Lynda Carter personally spoke out publicly to endorse Eliza Dushku to take over the part last year.

The Women Who Spend Their Lives Behind The Mask

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Jeff Hughes / Dennis Willman

Just about everyone has a secret fantasy to be a superhero. As children we dream of being Batman or one of the Fantastic Four. For some of us, those dreams never go away.

Now, Jeff Hughes, owner and writer of Comic Book Divas, along with artist Dennis Willman, are making that dream come true for a lucky group of young actresses and models.

Okay....no, these two comic book guys aren't turning these ladies into real superheroes, they aren't locking them in a room full of strontium 90 until they turn into mutants or anything like that. What they are doing is using their likenesses to model their characters after.

And I have to say, the results are stunning.

For Hughes and Willman's latest creation, "A Life Behind The Mask", the duo has collected some of the loveliest faces in the modeling industry, plus independent cinema genre, to create an amazing collection of heroes, villains and Anti Heroes.

The idea for using 'real-life' models and actresses came to Hughes and Jason Dube, of Scattered Comics Studios, while they were working on another comic entitled, "Scorpion Warrior". After putting out some feelers to find out if anyone would be interested in having their likeness used for a comic book character, Hughes and Dube were overwhelmed by requests by Models, Actresses, Wrestlers, and even NFL Cheerleaders.

Needless to say, the idea was a hit that lead to the founding of Comic Book Divas and new comic series based on real women.

For their latest project the two comic makers wanted to take a page out of Alan Moore's "Watchmen", and look at the lives these characters live from day to day.

Writer Jeff Hughes explains, "'A Life Behind The Mask' (is) a comedic look at the lives of Super Heroes and Super Villains in everyday life and everyday situations and how they react.

'A Life Behind The Mask' will put an amusing spin o events and situations that we have all been through at one time or another; and we hope to make reader's think 'I have been there' or 'I wish I could do that!'

The idea popped in my head while I was watching a super hero movie and the thought came across 'Who fixes this guys costume' or 'If he went into a convince store would anyone pay attention?'

Joining Hughes on "A Life Behind The Mask" is the 'rookie' comic book artist, Dennis Willman, who, from these images, looks like a seasoned artist that has been doing this for years.

Hughes adds, "Artist Dennis Willman has done the character designs and is now paneling the first page of the series that will feature "Amazonia" portrayed by actress and scream queen Tara Cardinal; this will be Dennis Willman's first full comic book project, but as you can see on FaceBook people are very excited about his art work and ready for the project to begin."

"The women featured in "A Life Behind The Mask" were all very gracious and generous to Dennis and I to feature their likeness as the characters; just about all the women selected their characters they wanted to portray, it was a thrill to see Dennis 's work and the women's selections come to life it was if that their personalities matched up to exactly what Dennis had in mind."

One of the actresses that Willman and Hughes selected for "A Life Behind The Mask" is veteran 'scream queen' Rachel Grubb, who has been a life-long comic book fan.

The stunning actress/model quips, "I grew up as a comic book fan for sure! As a child, I admired Batman and looked up to him as a father figure. I loved to read superhero comics as a kid, but Batman was my favorite. I was interested in just about anything Batman related, no matter how silly."

Luckily for Grubb, her character, Jolly, is kinda like The Joker mixed with Harley Quinn. Two of her all-time favorite comic book characters.
