Merry Christmas Everyone!

In the spirit of the holidays, here is "Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales".
A special from 1979 that features three newly-created shorts: "Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol", "Freeze Frame" and "The Fright Before Christmas".

Yogi Bear's All-Star Comedy Christmas Caper DVD

While the first Yogi Bear holiday special from 1980 was only a direct-sale MOD from "the Warner Archive" last year, Warner Home Video is releasing the 1982 holiday reunion special as a general release on December 12th.Read more about this upcoming release here:

A Very Merry Cricket: Background Art

Keeping up with the Christmas theme, may I share with you some screen grabs of Chuck Jones' 1973 television special "A Very Merry Cricket", which was itself a sequel to "The Cricket in Time Square".People of New York seem to have forgotten the Christmas spirit so Harry Cat and Tucker Mouse head off to the country to find help from their old friend, Chester C. Cricket, who once before calmed the citizens with soothing music. You can find this classic special among other Chuck Jones Productions animated shows on The Chuck Jones Collection DVD from Lionsgate.

Christmas Comes to Pac-Land

Here's a trip down memory lane if your were a kid of the 80's.
Hanna-Barbera created a cartoon series based on the popular video game Pac-Man and also made a prime-time television special for Christmas of 1982."Christmas Comes to Pac-Land" is a story about Santa Claus crash-landing his sleigh in Pac-Land which introduces Pac-Man and his family to the celebrated holiday. Here's the special in 3 parts:

Christmas Cartoons 3

Another favorite Christmas themed cartoon of mine is a quite recent one.
Powerpuff Girls: 'Twas the Fight Before Christmas is a Cartoon Network special from a few years ago. I really love the design of the early CN cartoons.
The story happens in Townsville on Christmas Eve when rich, nasty, bratty Princess Morbucks is tired of receiving coal from Santa Claus and ends up switching Santa's Naughty and Nice lists around so that she is the only "nice" child in the world this Christmas.
The only present she's ever wanted is to be a Powerpuff Girl herself and she gets her wish. The original Powerpuff Girls discover her plan and the 4 girls have a race/battle to Santa's Workshop to warn Santa of his mistake.
There is a lot of action and the portrayal of Santa Claus always makes me laugh.
True, the whole concept of the story revolves around the message "gimme, gimme gimme" with no family togetherness at all, but it's still a great little story. You can find this great holiday special on DVD from Warner Home Video!

Garfield: His 9 Lives

My favorite Garfield television special has to be 1988's Garfield: His 9 Lives.
Available on the DVD "Garfield Fantasies", the special is very unique like the book it's based on.
Different artists contributed to the book illustrating Garfield in their own way.
The special mimics this by using various animation styles.
My favorite segment is Life # 4: The Court Musician. It's cartoony and has a "design-y" feel to it.
