SUPERMAN by the late, great CURT SWAN!
Here's another one that I remember buying off the spinner rack...WONDER WOMAN #212 from 1974! Love this cover!

SUPER SERIAL!

I've really been enjoying Columbia's 1948 SUPERMAN movie serial! I thought KIRK ALYN was an excellent SUPERMAN / CLARK KENT.

ACTION!

I remember buying these two issues of ACTION COMICS off of the spinner rack back in 1974 (#437) and 1975 (#443). Both issues feature cover art by the great NICK CARDY.

SUPERMAN VS. THE FLASH!

I still have my SUPERMAN vs. THE FLASH Limited Collector's Edition comic book from 1976...always enjoyed it! Especially the HOW TO DRAW THE FLASH feature by Silver Age FLASH artist, CARMINE INFANTINO.
I also had this issue of SUPERMAN #199 (1967) when I was little. It originally featured the comic story reprinted in the Limited Collector's Edition. This cover was drawn by the great CARMINE INFANTINO.

SUPERMAN and the GIANT CYCLOPS!

This advertisement ran in various issues of 1964 DC Comics. It was for Walter's International Wax Museum's SUPERMAN AND THE GIANT CYCLOPS exhibit at the 1964 World's Fair in New York!

SUPER FRIENDS 1973

I'm really enjoying this week's DVD release of SUPER FRIENDS. The DVD is Season 1-Volume 1 of the 1973 Hanna-Barbera production that featured SUPERMAN, BATMAN, ROBIN, AQUAMAN, WONDER WOMAN, MARVIN, WENDY and WONDER DOG. I loved this show when it premiered in September of 1973. I think this DVD collection of the first animated adventures of the SUPER FRIENDS legacy deserved much better packaging and special features from Warner Home Video. The DVD's packaging and discs feature character art that appears to be from a 1980s DC Comics style guide with some lame-looking SUPER FRIENDS logo. The show featured terrific character designs by the legendary ALEX TOTH and had a nicely designed logo...all of which are completely absent from the packaging. There really are no special features included on this 2-disc DVD set...only a SUPER FRIENDS TRIVIA CHALLENGE. I am enjoying watching the episodes. It brings back a lot of good memories! Above and below are my SUPER FRIENDS sketch cards, which are available to own. E-mail me at powsley@flash.net for details!
