Woody Woodpecker made his debut in the 1940 Andy Panda cartoon "Knock Knock". He was a crazy character and his original design suited his personality. Woody would be the headliner of his next cartoon in 1941 which is aptly named "Woody Woodpecker".
Electric Tiki Does Disney
Electric Tiki Design has recently made a licensing deal with Disney to bring 12-15 concepts to life with their various maquette designs.http://www.electrictiki.com/disney.html
"The Disney Projects" will begin sometime in 2009 with Darkwing Duck appearing first as a "Teeny Weeny" mini-maquette.
Can't wait to see what they have in store for their Roger & Jessica Rabbit "Shorts Tribute" series!
