Disney Comics Crossover

Straight from the pages of Gold Key's Walt Disney Comics Digest #7 (1969), may I present Uncle Scrooge with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in "The Washed-Up Witch"!Wasn't that the greatest Disney crossover ever? Well, wasn't it? At least the Wise Old Owl, Thumper and Flower had cameos! :)

Gold Key Bunnies

I was looking through my comic collection yet again and came across this interesting strip from a 1956 Bugs Bunny Winter Fun Giant Comic from Gold Key Comics.
The story doesn't have a title but Bugs seemed to have other rabbits involved in his Gold Key universe.I'm not sure if Horton Hare or Beefy Bunny made any other appearances in more stories? Wonder if anyone knows who the artist was behind this one?

A Look Back: Whitman's Yosemite Sam

Here's another example of Whitman Comic's "Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny" title.
Created in 1973, so it's not the most politically correct story but if features a lot of great artwork. Would anyone out there in Internet-land know the name of the artist behind these stories?

A Look Back: Whitman Comics

More stories from my old comic book collection!
Originally created in 1962, Western Publishing started to churn out comic books under the Gold Key Comics label. Gold Key featured a number of licensed properties based on popular TV series of the day, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., King Features Syndicate and Hanna-Barbera.
During the 1970s, the comics industry experienced a downswing which forced Gold Key to try different things. Western Publishing dealt with children publications such as Little Golden Books and various coloring books, so they discontinued the "Gold Key" logo and started using the "Whitman" logo which was used on the coloring books to attract young readers.Over time though, Western turned their ever-fading comic title distribution from newsstand to comic book stores which lead to their 1984 demise.
Here is an example of Whitman's Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny title for your reading pleasure:

Rabbit Feud

Here is a Bugs Bunny story from a 1959 Gold Key Comic, "The Best of Bugs Bunny #2".
Elmer Fudd & Yosemite Sam feud over which hunter gets the rabbit. I'm not sure who illustrated the story but the designs really look like something from the McKimson unit at Termite Terrace.

Birds of a Feather

Here is a story that was reprinted in a 1969 issue of Gold Key's "Beep Beep the Road Runner".
Beaky Buzzard has a guest appearance in the story and it looks like the artist uses the character designs of the first Roadrunner cartoon, "Fast and Furry-ous".

Gold Key Bugs

Here's an interesting story I came across in a 1956 Gold Key Giant Comic collection called "Bugs Bunny: Winter Fun".
This particular story features Bugs, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Playboy Penguin & Yosemite Sam.
I believe this is Playboy's only Gold Key comic appearance? Chuck Jones fans will notice that some of the story seems to be adapted from the 1950 cartoon, "8 Ball Bunny"...

A Taz Tale With No Name

Here is yet another story from "Golden Comics Digest" featuring "The Tasmanian Devil and his tasty friends: Beep Beep and Wile E. Coyote"!
