They Actually Went Through With It

The upcoming CG/live action film from Warner Bros, "Yogi Bear", has had a teaser trailer premier.

As much as I like the classic Hanna-Barbera character, the choice to bring Yogi and Boo Boo into the real world just seems like bad idea. If anything, I hope this brings about a new DVD release featuring the rest of the classic television series.

Animated American Trailer (2008)

I almost forgot about this independent film from 2008. I haven't seen it personally, but now I want too.
http://www.animatedamericanmovie.com/Involving a mixture of traditional animation and live-action, this film deals with a digital loving executive who is mansion hunting and winds up dealing with his realtor, an out-of-work 'toon rabbit.

Marvin the Martian Planned for X-Mas '11

According to a recent Animation Magazine article, Warner Bros Pictures is gearing up to give the classic Looney Tunes character his own feature film.

With a director, writers and a possible voice actor lined up, fans can "look forward to" Marvin's big screen debut in 2011.

Yogi Bear Film Underway

Looks like Warner Bros is going through with it.
That smarter-than-average bear that premiered on Hanna-Barbera's "The Huckleberry Hound Show" way back in 1958 before spinning-off into his own series will be hitting the silver screen in a brand new film that will blend live-action with CG animation.
http://www.animationmagazine.net/article/10947
The film is currently filming in New Zealand and will feature the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi Bear and Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo. I have no immediate intention on seeing this at all. I'll wait to see a trailer first, but the whole idea seems "off" to me.

Alien Bounty Hunter Film Planned

Film director Guy Richie has signed up to direct another DC Comics-inspired movie. The intergalactic Alien bounty hunter called Lobo will be hitting movie screens sometime in the near future. Unfortunately, the film is predicted to carry only a PG-13 ranking...

More WB/HB Live Action Films Coming

With the surprising success that Fox had with "Alvin and the Chipmunks", Warner Bros feels they have a chance to cash in on a live-action/CG 'toon film with "Tom & Jerry".http://www.variety.com/VR1117998898.html
It has worked before for Warners with the "successful" Scooby-Doo franchise as well as 2 films featuring the original Warner Bros 'toon crew, The Looney Tunes.Along with Tom & Jerry, and the rights to Hanna-Barbera's line of animated properties, Warners also has big-screen adaptations in development featuring "The Jetsons" and "Yogi Bear".Time and box office revenue will tell if these are good ideas after all. I don't have my fingers crossed though.

Just Say No to CG Yogi

I can't believe that Warner Bros Pictures is even considering a Yogi Bear film that will be in the same vein as the live action Scooby-Doo and Alvin & The Chipmunks films.
http://www.animationmagazine.net/article/9004
According to the article: "the Yogi pic will blend live action and CG-animation to continue the crafty bear’s ongoing efforts to elude Ranger Smith as he attempts to swipe picnic baskets in Jellystone Park. Both Yogi and his little pal, Boo Boo, will be computer-animated characters."
I can't see this being a good idea at all...

Depp Goes Mad

Johnny Depp has decided to help out his good friend Tim Burton again by taking on the role as the Mad Hatter for Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland adaptation.
http://www.animationmagazine.net/article/8961
The film is going to feature a live-action/CG animation mix and even though I'm not a fan of motion capture, Tim Burton + Wonderland should = "awesomeness".(on a side note from the linked article, "He’s (Depp) also suiting up for a fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, and is set to play Tonto in a new Lone Ranger flick.")
Depp as Tonto? I don't know about that....

Newest Animation/Live Action Venture

This brand new live action/animation Independent short film seems very intriguing!

A Nod to Jessica Rabbit

A recent music video, "Oh My God!", featuring Mark Ronson and an animated Lily Allen captures Jessica Rabbit's sultry stage performance from the 1988 film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Here's where the inspiration came from for this video:
