RoboCat BG Artwork
The 1992 film "Stay Tuned" includes a fun animated segment called "RoboCat" which features the voice talent of the film's stars, John Ritter & Pam Dawber, as they suddenly find themselves as animated mice. Chuck Jones directed the segment while paying homage to his roots at Warner Bros.

Christmas Day is almost here! Let's celebrate a little by viewing some beautifully painted backgrounds from 1952's "Pluto's Christmas Tree".
Pixar's Presto for Sale
The brand new Pixar short "Presto" directed by Doug Sweetland is available for purchase in both the Canadian and American iTunes stores.http://www.2719hyperion.com/2008/07/presto.html
Presto is one of Pixar's best "cartoony" shorts with the right amount of humor and animation style paying tribute to various Golden Age Cartoon studios.
A Judge Owl Fable
In September 2007, Archie Comics released a 65th Anniversary issue of Archie Digest that reprinted Archie #1 from 1942.
Included with the Archie Andrew stories were a few funny-animal tales and one that sticks out is Judge Owl Fables retelling the classic Tortoise & the Hare.
Joe Edwards seems to have borrowed a few key poses from an early Bugs Bunny cartoon. Edwards must have seen it in theaters before he drew it. Can you name the cartoon?

Woody Vol 2 Released
Universal Studios had a great product last year with 'The Woody Woodpecker and Friends: Classic Cartoon Collection: Volume 1", http://jedaniels-adventures.blogspot.com/2007/07/woody-woodpecker-and-friends-classic.html
so as of April 15th, they released "The Woody Woodpecker and Friends: Volume 2"!
This recent set features Woody Woodpecker cartoons that ran in theaters from 1952 - 1958. Other cartoons starring Walter Lantz's Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, Cartune Classics and Swing Symphonies range from the years 1932 - 1965.
These cartoons also introduced Woody's nephew and niece, "Knothead & Splinter" plus Woody's love interest, "Winnie Woodpecker"!
The DVD set also boasts great special features such as "Behind the Scenes with Walter Lantz" where the boss himself takes the audience through every aspect of traditional animated cartoon making, no computers at all folks! There are 2 rare TV pilots featuring "Space Mouse" and "Sam 'n Simian"!
The early Oswald cartoons are surprisingly risque full of adult humor which had me laughing. There are great musical cartoons with the animation timed perfectly as which one would expect from the Cartune Classics/Swing Symphonies collection.
As the years went by, production values were trimmed down and you can tell with the limited animation and toned-down character designs but the humor and gags remained.
With 75 uncut classic cartoons in another DVD collection, how can you go wrong? Will 2009 bring a 3rd collection? I guess only time, and sales, will tell....
