FUTURAMA Hits The Century Mark! 100 Episodes And Still Going Strong!

Leela leads an army of underground mutants in a revolt against the surface people in the milestone 100th episode of "Futurama," premiering Thursday, September 2 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. This sixth season finale episode brings to a close a record-breaking premiere run of the resurrected series on COMEDY CENTRAL.

In this landmark episode, titled "The Mutants are Revolting," the Planet Express Crew has been hired to make their 100th delivery and Bender begins planning the party of the millennium. Meanwhile, however, the rest of the crew attends a fundraiser where Fry accidentally outs Leela as a mutant who is illegally living above ground. For that, she is banished to the sewers where her fellow mutants reside in futuristic squalor. Feeling guilty about his slip-up, Fry and the rest of the gang – along with the mutated members of Devo – join Leela in an epic mutant revolution against the surface dwellers.

After almost seven years since the last original episode aired, the sixth season premiere of "Futurama" in June led COMEDY CENTRAL to its best Thursday prime ever among young men. Since then, the animated sci-fi comedy has continued its out-of-this-world winning streak, with a season-to-date average of 2.5 million viewers each week, a 1.56 P18-49 rating, a 3.02 M18-34 rating and 3.26 M18-24 rating. In the social media realm, the "Futurama" Facebook fan base recently reached a milestone by crossing the 4 million mark.

"Futurama" follows the life of Philip J. Fry (Billy West), a pizza delivery boy who accidentally stumbles into a freezer on December 31, 1999 and wakes up a thousand years later. In his future home of New New York City, Fry goes to work for the Planet Express Intergalactic delivery company, where he befriends Bender (John DiMaggio), a booze-fueled robot and sets his romantic sights on Leela (Katey Sagal), a sexy cyclops who enjoys beating him up.

COMEDY CENTRAL will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con again this year. The schedule includes: an "Ugly Americans" panel on Friday, July 23 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., a "Futurama" panel on Saturday, July 24 from 12:45-1:30 p.m. and, capping it all off on Saturday, July 24 from 7:00-9:00 p.m., the network will present, COMEDY CENTRAL Live @ Comic-Con, a free comedy event as part of COMEDY CENTRAL's House of Comedy Live from House of Blues series, hosted by Pete Holmes ("Ugly Americans") and featuring talent from COMEDY CENTRAL's newest shows.

Comedian Pete Holmes ("Ugly Americans") will host a special evening of free comedy including exclusive sneak peeks from COMEDY CENTRAL's new shows and more with performances by "Ugly Americans" cast members Maria Bamford, Kurt Metzger, Matt Oberg and Randy Pearlstein; Chris Gethard and Horatio Sanz, stars of the new series "Big Lake," premiering Tuesday, August 17; Nick Swardson, whose new series "Pretend Time with Nick Swardson" premieres Tuesday, October 12; and Adam DeVine from the forthcoming series "Workaholics" (1Q 2011). The House of Blues is located at 1055 5th Avenue and attendees must be 18 to enter and 21 to drink.

"Ugly Americans," a new original animated comedy series, with two million total viewers, returns with new episodes on October 6 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The series follows Mark Lilly (voiced by Matt Oberg), a social worker at the “Department of Integration,” as he helps new citizens, both human and "other," adapt to hectic life in New York City. There are easier tasks than weaning vampires off blood, socializing land-whales and housebreaking werewolves, but Mark is up to the challenge. Between his stressful job, a zombie roommate and a demon girlfriend, Mark’s lucky if he can sneak in a few minutes of sleep. But who can sleep when there's a drop-dead gorgeous mermaid sitting at the bar?

David M. Stern, Series Developer and Executive Producer, began his career writing for "The Wonder Years" during its first three seasons. He went on to serve as a producer on "The Simpsons" during the first four seasons where he wrote many memorable episodes. He has served as a co-executive producer on the premiere season of the USA hit series 'Monk," as well as a co-executive producer on the Fox series "Oliver Beene."

Series-creator Devin Clark has been involved with a broad range of television projects including work with HBO, MTV, Nickelodeon, TCM and The Cartoon Network, applying his design and narrative skills to everything from network graphics to traditional cartoons. His films and animation have been featured in Stash magazine, Animation Block Party, Rooftop Films, Ottawa Film Festival, Platform and Atom Films.

Stern and Daniel Powell are the Executive Producers of "Ugly Americans." Aaron Augenblick serves as Animation Director, with animation by Augenblick Studios and Cuppa Coffee. Lisa Leingang is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.

Currently, new episodes of "Futurama" air on Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET/T on COMEDY CENTRAL. In the second episode, Leela and hunky space captain Zapp Brannigan find themselves stranded, alone and naked, on a Garden of Eden-like planet.

Special guest stars this season include Chris Elliot, Craig Ferguson, George Takei, Sergio Aragones, Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, Katee Sackhoff and Mark Mothersbaugh.

Only 2 More Days Until The Premiere Of FUTURAMA On Comedy Central!

I know you can't wait and neither can I!

Here is a synopsis of the premiere episodes "Rebirth" & "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela":

After a devastating spaceship crash, the Professor attempts to resuscitate the crew with his birth machine. Later, Leela and Zapp Brannigan find themselves stranded on an Eden-like planet.

Hatched from the mind of The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Futurama blasts contemporary culture and science fiction alike with an animated comedy barrage. Hapless NYC pizza guy Philip J. Fry makes a fateful delivery to a cryonics lab on New Year's Eve, 1999 when he's accidentally flash-frozen until the next millennium. Reawakened in 31st century New New York, he finds work at his great-great-etc. grandnephew's Planet Express delivery service. Together with his hedonist robot buddy bender and cyclopsian love interest Leela, Fry travels to the farthest reaches of the universe. Along the way they discover strange alien life forms, velour-clad lotharios, freaky mutants, intergalactic conspiracies and the disembodied heads of celebrities throughout the ages.

Both "Rebirth" and "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" will air on Thursday night, but if for some reason you miss them, or ya just gotta watch them over-and-over, Comedy Central will be re airing them over the next week starting Friday.

The Triumphant Return Of FUTURAMA - New Images!

It has been a long road back for the popular animated sci fi/comedy, "Futurama", which initially aired on the Fox network from 1999 to 2003.

After the network cancelled the program due to low ratings it got a second chance through syndication on Cartoon Network, and then, Comedy Central, where, like "Star Trek" and "Family Guy" before it, the series gained new fans.

Realizing that they had a potential hit on their hands, spawned by high ratings and the success of the direct-to-DVD releases, "Bender's Big Score," "The Beast with a Billion Backs," "Bender's Game" and "Into the Wild Green Yonder," Comedy Central struck a deal with 20th Century Fox Television in 2009 to produce 26 new episodes.

That deal almost fell apart due to a contract dispute between the network and voice actors, Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille soon after it was announced. Frustrated over being offered much reduced salaries, the actors boycotted a planned presentation at the San Diego Comic Con to announce the new series. As a response to the 'no-show', Fox then put out a casting call for replacement actors. A few days later, both sides caved in, and an agreement was reached that would benenfit both parties.

The show was back on!

On June 24th the first of these new episodes, "Rebirth", is scheduled to air on Comedy Central, and if what we have seen in the previews is any indication of what's to come, "Futurama" is in for a much longer run on the network.

It is if show hasn't missed a beat in the seven years since it has been off the air.

Online at comedycentral.com, the new "Futurama" Web site, which launched in May, features episode previews and highlights, mash-up videos of some of the funniest moments from the previous five seasons and an exclusive recap video narrated by Zapp Brannigan. On Wednesday, May 4, the COMEDY CENTRAL Insider Blog launched the "Countdown to Futurama." The countdown features an exclusive sneak preview of season 6 content each day, including stills, storyboards, prop designs, video teases and more. As the season continues, the site will be home to exclusive interviews with the show's cast, as well as with Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. Additionally, there will be a weekly Facebook quiz based on the most recent episode. Users can then share their quiz results with their friends.

Fry

A delivery boy with no future, Fry was accidentally frozen on December 31st, 1999 when a pizza delivery went horribly awry. He awoke a thousand years later to find himself in New New York City, a wonderland of robots, aliens, stars, moons and clovers. Fry soon went to work at the Planet Express delivery company, run by his great-great-great...great-great-nephew, Hubert Farnsworth. With his best friend Bender and off-again, off-again girlfriend Leela, he travels the universe, boldly going where no pizza boy has gone before.

Bender

Built to bend girders, Bender was fed up with his career and began a new life as part of the Planet Express delivery crew, along with his best friend, Fry. In his free time, he enjoys gambling, cooking, stealing, folk singing, bending, computer dating and dating computers.

Leela

Leela is a sexy cyclops whose character, intelligence and willingness to clobber opponents make her a natural leader. Leela is adept at avoiding the clumsy romantic advances of her co-worker, Fry.

Four Brand New Images From FUTURAMA!

Just wanted to post a quick note about these four new photos from the upcoming season of "Futurama" on Comedy Central.

One shows the Planet Express Ship under construction. It's a homage to the early images from J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" film that showed the Enterprise under construction.

The second shows Fry, Amy, Bender, and the gang as bunch of wackos on a street corner with "Domesday" signs.

The third shows Bender doing his best Tony Manero impression from "Saturday Night Fever".

The fourth shows Leela and Zapp Brannigan as Adam and Eve.

Hey, a little skin never hurts a shows ratings.

Hard to tell what all this means yet, but you can bet it will be funnier than hell.
