Dedicated to the world of horror, both classic and contemporary, Famous Monsters of Filmland #255 will be available at comic shops and newsstands April 5, 2011.

Bound by the striking Harry Potter cover art by Jason Edmiston (Vincent Price 254), or if you choose, giant monster maestro Bob Eggleton's At the Mountains of Madness cover art, FM #255 goes behind the scenes of the magic and mythos of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and celebrates all the Lovecraftian mayhem you can stomach with a retrospective look at the fiction and films of master horror hovelist, H.P. Lovecraft. Famous Monsters of Filmland Continues To Expand Distribution

Publisher Movieland Classics announced today the release of Famous Monsters of Filmland 253, the first issue in its new bi-monthly production schedule. The company announced its decision to increase the frequency of Famous Monsters to a bi-monthly publication, up from their quarterly term, in response to a substantial demand for more FM content.

"We've dropped the cover price and increased our frequency to provide fans with more bang for their buck! I also believe readers will find the new format a lot more fun and still very informative," announced Senior Manager Philip Kim. Another noteworthy change: Opening Wounds, the editor's note has revealed the return of Forrest J Ackerman as the magazine's Honorary Editor-in-Chief. "This serves as a constant reminder to everyone-those reading and involved in bringing FM to readers-that fandom is fun... and science fiction and horror will never die," added editor, Jessie Lilley.

Bringing together classic and contemporary horror icons, Famous Monsters 253 features a behind the scenes look at the winter blockbuster, The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, a peak into Season 2 of AMC's new hit show, The Walking Dead, an in-depth exclusive with Hellboy filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and never-before-seen footage of African zombie chiller, The Dead. Also featured in the issue is H.G. Wells' Island of Lost Souls, the monsters of SyFy, Bollywood thriller Hisss, the return of the classic "Fangmail" and "Mystery Photo," and an original story by horror author Jack Ketchum. The new release features all this and more, wrapped up in a series of four variant covers by artists Kerry Gammill (Island of Lost Souls), dual covers by Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), and an ultra rare cover by the legendary William Stout (Mummy).

With the outstanding success of Famous Monsters 252 (now entirely sold out!), the circulation of the popular magazine continues to expand with every issue. As you can see, it is a beautiful painted cover depicting Bela Lugosi as the "Sayer of the Law" in Paramount Pictures's Island of Lost Souls (1932), which is a version of the H. G. Wells novel, The Island of Dr. Moreau that was first published in 1896.

With only about a week until monsters and mayhem take over Indianapolis, IN for the Famous Monsters Convention, we are proud to announce some new additions to the guest lineup. Veteran horror actress Danielle Harris (the Halloween franchise) will be on hand at FM Con. Besides appearing in Halloween 4 and 5 as Jamie Lloyd, and in the Halloween reboot as the ill-fated Annie Brackett, Danielle will soon appear in the films Hatchet II and Stake Land (both of which will be covered in the upcoming FM #251) as well as William Forsythe directed vampire flick New Blood.

Real-life paranormal investigators and Ghost Hunters International alumni Shannon Sylvia and Brian Joseph Harnois will also be making an appearance, as will Michael Nicolosi, voice of the fan favorite character Clown on HBO's 1997-1999 Spawn animated series.

Harry Knowles, Steve "Capone" Prokopy and Jarrell Jay "Father Geek" Knowles of movie megasite Ain't It Cool News will be among the attendees. Harry's nephew, who played The Kid Zombie from the movie Pathogen will be in attendance and it will be his first con (a male, time-honored rite of passage).

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, actresses Margot Kidder, Lori Cardille, and Kim Myers will be unable to make the convention. We here at FM wish them the best and hope to see them next year.

The city of Indianapolis has shown Famous Monsters great affection spearheaded by the mayor, who will be performing the ribbon cutting ceremony to start this year's FMCon. Guests will be arriving Thursday and into Friday afternoon escorted by a police motorcade from the airport to the Wyndham Hotel. Want to be on TV? Come to the Wyndham at 6:30, 7:40, and 8:40 AM Friday July 9th. The local morning show on FOX TV will be at the convention before it opens to air three live segments to kick off the con.

The Famous Monsters Convention arrives in Indianapolis, IN July 9-11, 2010. With only 11 days to go, more guests have been added to the monstrous weekend, and several very special presentations.

But first, we are sad to announce that Lori Cardille (Day of the Dead) will be unable to attend our 2010 show. All of us at FM wish her the best and a very speedy recovery. And now for a barrage of good news, Bela Lugosi, Jr. (Son of Dracula), Kevin Burns (Girls Next Door; The Telling; Biography), Bridget Marquardt (Girls Next Door; The Telling), Nick Carpenter (The Telling), Billy Gram (One for the Fire) and Sal Lizard (I Am Legend; The Box) have been added to our guest list.

Bela Lugosi, Jr., the son of Dracula, played by legend Bela Lugosi, will introduce the new line of Lugosi Wines at the FM Con in the spirit of keeping his father's memory alive. Limited samples will be provided. Kevin Burns (The Girls Next Door, Kendra and Holly's World) is a prolific producer of nearly 600 hours of critically acclaimed and award-winning television. As a studio executive at 20th Century Fox, Burns produced pilots for updated versions of Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel (2002) and Lost in Space, directed by John Woo (2005), both of which will be screened for the convention's attendees. The Telling (2005), intended as an "homage" to several horror anthologies will also be screened at the weekend show, followed by a panel with Burns, writer Joe Lessard, director Nick Carpenter (The Ghost Whisperer, My Name Is Earl), and actor and producer Bridget Marquardt (The Girls Next Door, Bridget's Sexiest Beaches).

Marquardt, who rose to fame as one of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends, is a big fan of the genre films and culture and will also be signing complimentary autographs for fans. With her beau, director Nick Carpenter, Marquardt will also be filming her new pilot Just Add Bridget at the FM Con on Friday. The new show will chronicle her adventures as a high-end party planner and designer with Carpenter.

The featurette anthology Monsterama, including a special one dedicated to Basil Gogos will also be screened. A fun-filled tribute to the sci-fi and creature feature movies of yesteryear, Monsterama shows previews of genre movies for the '40s and '50s.
