Loved the art team of ROSS ANDRU & MIKE ESPOSITO on the Silver Age WONDER WOMAN! MIKE ESPOSITO was 83.

I bought these right off of the spinner rack in 1974! WONDER WOMAN #214 and SHAZAM! #12...loved these then, and still do!

I remember buying these two issues of ACTION COMICS off of the spinner rack back in 1974 (#437) and 1975 (#443). Both issues feature cover art by the great NICK CARDY.
INFANTINO!
1968's DC SPECIAL: An All-Infantino Issue! I've had this since I was small and have always enjoyed it. The book features many stories illustrated by one of my favorite BATMAN and FLASH artists, CARMINE INFANTINO!
SUPERMAN VS. THE FLASH!
I still have my SUPERMAN vs. THE FLASH Limited Collector's Edition comic book from 1976...always enjoyed it! Especially the HOW TO DRAW THE FLASH feature by Silver Age FLASH artist, CARMINE INFANTINO.
I also had this issue of SUPERMAN #199 (1967) when I was little. It originally featured the comic story reprinted in the Limited Collector's Edition. This cover was drawn by the great CARMINE INFANTINO.JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA
Here's another DC Comics "go-go checks" cover from my collection. This is the very first issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA that I remember having when I was little...#51 from 1967!
GO-GO CHECK COMICS!
Over the years, I've heard many people say that they didn't like the go-go-check design element that DC Comics was putting across the tops of their comic covers during 1966 through 1967. I loved it! This is my favorite era of DC Comics! From my collection, here's GREEN LANTERN #49 from 1966. I'll have to post more go-go checked DC covers soon.
BATGIRL IN DETECTIVE COMICS!
These issues of DETECTIVE COMICS were published at the time YVONNE CRAIG was playing BATGIRL on the 1960s BATMAN TV series. From my collection...above is issue #359 from 1967. Below are issues #363 from 1967 and 1968's issue #371.
MY FIRST BATMAN COMIC BOOK!
This is the very first BATMAN comic book I remember having as a little kid. This is BATMAN #197, December 1967...featuring BATGIRL and CATWOMAN! I love the Silver Age super heroes!
WONDER WOMAN: BOLD NEW LOOK? I DON'T THINK SO!
I saw in the news today that WONDER WOMAN is getting a "bold new look" in WONDER WOMAN #600, which is available today. You can read the article and see the new WONDER WOMAN costume that is, "designed to be taken seriously as a warrior", by clicking here. What an ugly design. The colors look awful, too. I like super heroes that are colorful and fun! How many times have we seen this type of "new and improved" move flop? This is one of the many reasons why I can't stand modern-day "comic books". Publishers think moves like this will improve slumping sales. How about hiring writers who write stories that are actually fun to read and entertaining, and hiring artists who can actually draw characters that have appealing designs? Just like they used to during the 1940s through the 1970s. There are reasons why the popularity of comic book heroes lasted so long during those years...reasons that have been long dismissed by today's publishers.
HENRY SCARPELLI
Veteran cartoonist HENRY SCARPELLI has passed away at the age of 79. I really enjoyed SCARPELLI's work for ARCHIE COMICS and his work on DC's SWING WITH SCOOTER, but my favorite is the ABBOTT & COSTELLO comic book work he did for Charlton Comics. HENRY SCARPELLI is also the father of actor GLENN SCARPELLI.
