Have you ever watched a movie on the SyFy Channel and thought that you could have come up with a better idea for a film?
I think we all have from time to time, but now we all have a chance to put our money where our mouths are.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Network that has brought us such classics as "'Dinocroc vs. Supergator", "Dinoshark", Sharktopus", "Mega Piranha" and "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus", is about to let fans decide on their next big movie project. At present SyFy and IGN are developing a new website called, B Movie Mogul, where fans can pitch movie ideas and vote on them.
Reportedly every aspect of this unique film idea will be left open to us regular Joe's including the movie's title, plot, wardrobe, character deaths and taglines.
Syfy executive Thomas Vitale explains, "We constantly have fans emailing with compliments, complaints and questions about our movies, and this is a way of involving the fans in a new way."
"This is where entertainment is going and just the start of many more things of this nature for Syfy."
What does all this really mean? Well, so far just about every new movie that has aired on the network over the past few years has come from the mind of Roger Corman, or from the Hollywood clone film kings, The Asylum. All of these have involved some kind of giant mutant reptile or some other form of giant sea creature. Eventually, your going to run out of animals that you can mash up or make as big as a planet.
Apparently, SyFy has run out of 'fresh' ideas for movies about big monsters and 80s pop stars who hunt them.
Now, before you put on your thinking caps to start coming up with ideas, I call dibs on these two movie titles, "Dinotopuscrocshark!" and the sequel "Dinotopuscrocshark vs Megaorcacondasaurus".
I even have my leading lady already picked out ......... Samantha Fox!
Think you can do better (and you probably can)? Well, then we will have to wait for the launch of
B Movie Mogul to see what the folks at SyFy think.
