The comics industry was caught off guard today,Marvel Comics has been bought by The Walt Disney Company for a total of $4 Billion!

Although DC Comics has been a subsidiary of Warner Bros. since 1969, this could mean huge things for Marvel Comics. I thought it was odd that Disney DVD was releasing the X-Men's 90's animated series earlier this year.
Could future Disney animated projects include the well-known Marvel Superheroes? Only time will tell I suppose. Perhaps a Spider-Ham animated series could be on the horizon...

Conjuring The Villain
The Walt Disney Company was kind enough to give Cartoon Brew TV an exclusive look at the creation of the newest Disney Villain: Dr. Facilier for the upcoming film, The Princess and the Frog.

Supervising animator Bruce Smith explains the process that went into creating the character and how the voice of Keith David influenced the animators' work which is seen in Dr. Facilier's performance on screen.

Marvin's 3D Cartoon on DVD?
I wonder if the good people at Warner Home Video will ever be releasing the state-of-the-art 1996 3D short "Marvin the Martian in The 3rd Dimension" to DVD anytime soon?
It is a 13-minute, CGI-animated adventure directed by Douglas McCarthy in which Marvin mistakes Daffy Duck's cheapo space movie to be a genuine intergalactic threat. The short film was a main attraction at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia and later moved to Six Flags Great America theme park. The film was accompanied by various special effects including water and wind which would correspond to the screen (ei: Daffy spitting while speaking).WHV has been releasing past Looney Tunes compilation films to DVD with extra animated shorts as special features. The next on the list should be "Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island" (1983). Will "Marvin the Martian in 3D" be included? Hopefully, the current trend of 3D animated films will lead the way to the short being released sometime soon.

Happy 10th Anniversary Iron Giant
A decade ago, a traditionally-animated film was released by Warner Bros Feature Animation and it bombed at the box office. No one is really sure why this happened because the animated feature directed by Brad Bird is considered to be one of the best science-fiction tales in recent history.
The Iron Giant is a story about a boy who befriends an alien visitor during the paranoid times of post-war America during the fifties. It is a smartly crafted and emotionally moving film that has been greatly underrated over the years.
Here is a great tribute article for the Warner Bros animated film written by Scott Thill over at Wired.com: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/08/a-decade-later-the-iron-giants-weaponized-soul-still-stirs/
I was watching the film again in celebration and noticed some inside jokes that blew by me so many times before, that I decided to make a little collection of screen shots to share with you here.Hogarth has one of those Looney Tunes steel money banks in the shape of Sniffles the Mouse on his table. Hard to catch in the actual film, because it breezes by so quickly. This is a shot of the background from the stills gallery included on the Special Edition DVD of the movie.A Bugs Bunny figure can be seen in Hogarth's toy chest here. The Giant's hand watches John Hubley's Maypo Oat Cereal commercial.Hogarth teaches Giant about DC Comics' Superman......Will Eisner's The Spirit......and MAD magazine. All WB properties by the way.Osmosis Jones must have gone into production during The Iron Giant judging by that article on the second page of the paper. lolWarner Brothers' Bunny makes another cameo in the medicine cabinet.Love that mock-ad for "Holy Smokes: for your health" on the wall of the drug store. There's that Sniffles again.
Happy Birthday Giant! You can enjoy this film by adding it to your collection with the purchase of The Iron Giant from Warner Home Video.

Seth MacFarlane Hulu
Although I'm not a huge Family Guy fan, I do give props to Seth MacFarlane on being a great modern voice actor. Here's a Hulu commercial with him playing his best character roles...
