The Spectacular Spider-Man is coming!
The new series will have it's first DVD release on September 9th which will contain 3 episodes pieced together into a feature length story arc.

The Abominable Snow Buzzard
I was going through my comic collection and came across this little gem.
In DC Comics' Looney Tunes # 85, Beaky Buzzard has a solo story that features Hugo the Abominable Snowman.
The story opens up like the classic Beaky cartoons by Bob Clampett and features writing by Earl Kress and art by Dave Alvarez. David's drawings of Beaky really look like the classic 40's designs. Enjoy!

Looney Tunes Promote Good Health
Just when you thought cartoon characters were going to disappear from food packaging, Warner Bros Consumer Products makes a deal with Safeway that will have the Looney Tunes gang promoting good eating.

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo DVD Look
The first season of this 80's show finally hit DVD earlier this year.A Pup Named Scooby-Doo: The Complete 1st Season is my favorite Scooby-Doo incarnation because for an 80's series, it was really wacky and animated.
The late 80's saw a lot of improvement for animation which was probably influenced by Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Pup's producer Tom Ruegger really wanted to create a funny show full of slapstick humor. Ruegger went on to work on other animated hits such as Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs.
The DVD set features the first 13 episodes as well as a collection of feaurettes where Tom Ruegger walks the audience through the many aspects that went into creating the spin-off Scooby-Doo series. There is also an animatic of a slightly alternate show opening!
The first 13 episodes included are:"A Bicycle Built for Boo!"-"The Sludge Monster from the Earth's Core"-"The Schnook Who Took My Comic Book"-"Wanted Chedder Alive"-"For Letter or Worse"-"The Babysitter from Beyond"-"Now Museum, Now You Don't"-"Snow Place Like Home"-"Scooby Dude"-"Ghost Who's Coming to Dinner"-"The Story Stick"-"Robopup"-"Lights...Camera...Monster".
I enjoyed reliving this wacky series, hopefully Warner Home Video will be releasing the remaining seasons on DVD...

Unfortunately, the short is not available in the Canadian iTunes store. I hope it gets a DVD release in the future...

Here is a story that was reprinted in a 1969 issue of Gold Key's "Beep Beep the Road Runner".
Beaky Buzzard has a guest appearance in the story and it looks like the artist uses the character designs of the first Roadrunner cartoon, "Fast and Furry-ous".

In the upcoming August issue of Looney Tunes from DC Comics, it seems the writers are rehashing the 1965 cartoon "The Wild Chase".

Well, if they are copying the story I hope Dave Alvarez is on board doing the artwork. It should be interesting to see his take on the action.

Gold Key Bugs
Here's an interesting story I came across in a 1956 Gold Key Giant Comic collection called "Bugs Bunny: Winter Fun".
This particular story features Bugs, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Playboy Penguin & Yosemite Sam.
I believe this is Playboy's only Gold Key comic appearance? Chuck Jones fans will notice that some of the story seems to be adapted from the 1950 cartoon, "8 Ball Bunny"...
