In my personal opinion, the best 'under-used' character of the Looney Tunes gang would have to be........
"The Mynah Bird". (or 'Minah' however it's spelled correctly...)Chuck Jones created a little native character by the name of Inki back in 1939. Although the character was not given a name until his second short in 1941. The little hunter tries his best at game hunting with his spear, but always comes up a little short. While lions are his main choice for big game, Inki encounters the mysterious Mynah Bird in every cartoon. The Mynah Bird is a determined little guy, simply walking and hopping along to the tune of "Fingal's Cave" by Mendelsohnn, overcoming any obstacle that gets in his way.
In total, the Mynah Bird starred in 5 classic Looney Tunes cartoons.
"The Little Lion Hunter" (1939), "Inki & The Lion" (1941), "Inki & The Minah Bird" (1942), "Inki at the Circus" (1947) and "Caveman Inki" (1950).
The little super-strong bird did not reappear in animated form again until a 1994 episode of Animaniacs in the Goodfeathers' cartoon "Bad Mood Bobby" where he has a cameo inside a pet store. No sign of Inki though....I'm not sure if these classic cartoons will be heading to DVD anytime soon, but here's hoping.
I managed to catch the final Inki cartoon "Caveman Inki" on Teletoon Retro today, here's a clip!
