TOM AND JERRY - VINTAGE STYLE GUIDE INKINGS

Here's a few pieces of the TOM AND JERRY Vintage style guide character art that I inked a few years ago for Warner Bros. Consumer Products. I'm not sure who penciled the art.

A Look at "Almost There"

I've been enjoying a copy of Disney's "The Princess & The Frog" and I must admit one of my favorite scenes is the fantasy sequence "Almost There".The art design of the scene is quite inspired by the popular styles of the early 1900s.According to Sue Nichols, visual development artist, "Art styles such as art deco in the style of Erté, art nouveau with poster designers like Alphonse Mucha and ethnic American art from such Harlem renaissance artists as Aaron Douglas helped me create a look that's new and different yet still feels like it would have existed during the time period."Enjoy a brief clip of the visually appealing scene here:

SHAZAM IS COMING!

I'm busy working on commissions, so I thought I'd post this 1972 SHAZAM! advertisement that ran in various DC comics. C.C. BECK did the art. I loved the SHAZAM! comic book that premiered in 1973, and of course, the 1974 live-action SHAZAM! TV show produced by Filmation. I'll do another posting soon on the SHAZAM! TV show.

DONALD ON DVD!

I've been enjoying the Walt Disney Treasures DVD set, THE CHRONOLOGICAL DONALD Vol. 4 - 1951-1961! From my collection, here's the comic book cover for 1960's THIS IS YOUR LIFE DONALD DUCK, published by Dell Comics.

GENE DEITCH / TERRYTOONS CHARACTERS

Here's a very cool "model sheet" of various GENE DEITCH Terrytoons characters, including TOM TERRIFIC. Note that The Mad Elephant became Silly Sidney. Saw this a while ago on one of my Facebook friend's page...may have been Jerry Beck.

GET WELL, NOEL NEILL!

I want to wish NOEL NEILL a speedy recovery from injuries received in a recent fall! It's reported that TV's LOIS LANE fell last week and injured her right leg and hip. She suffered no broken bones, but deep bruising will require weeks of convalescence. Ms. Neill has cancelled her WonderCon appearances in San Francisco, April 2 - 4. I've had the pleasure of meeting NOEL NEILL a few times, and she has always been very gracious and happy to talk about her time playing LOIS LANE on The Adventures of Superman, which starred GEORGE REEVES. Get well, NOEL NEILL!

ANOTHER STOOGES POST!

From my collection, here's a cool 1961 comic cover of THE THREE STOOGES.
Another of my THREE STOOGES pencil roughs.

THE INSPECTOR

Always enjoyed THE INSPECTOR cartoons! Produced in the 1960s as theatrical cartoons by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, THE INSPECTOR is clearly based on Peter Sellers' character Inspector Clouseau in the PINK PANTHER film series. Most of us remember seeing THE INSPECTOR cartoons on TV's THE PINK PANTHER SHOW. The great PAT HARRINGTON, JR. provided the voice for THE INSPECTOR.

HANNA-BARBERA TITLE CARD SET!

I still have a few sets of the HANNA-BARBERA title cards available. All 14 COLORFUL title cards are of EXCELLENT quality. Each separate title card image is beautifully reproduced on its own sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" Hammermill color copy paper. The paper is of heavier weight to prevent the paper from curling at the edges. The paper is also acid-free so it won't yellow with age! Take a look at the photos...there's HUCKLEBERRY HOUND, YOGI BEAR, QUICK DRAW McGRAW, PIXIE & DIXIE and MR. JINKS, AUGIE DOGGIE & DOGGIE DADDY, SNAGGLEPUSS, WALLY GATOR, TOP CAT, SECRET SQUIRREL & MOROCCO MOLE, ATOM ANT, PETER POTAMUS & SO-SO, RICOCHET RABBIT &DROOP-A-LONG, TOUCHE TURTLE & DUM DUM and MAGILLA GORILLA!
